Vishnu Prabhakar
Vishnu Prabhakar is a Hindi author who has written several novels, short stories, plays, and travelogues. He was born in 1912, in Mirapur, a village in Muzaffarnagar district in Uttar Pradesh. In 1929, after completing his matriculation from Hisar, he joined government service as well as joined a Natak company in Hissar. In 1939, he wrote his first play, ‘Hatya Ke Baad’. He worked as a drama director in Aakashvani, New Delhi after independence.
Prabhaker's works has elements of nationalism, patriotism and messages of social up liftmen. For his novel Ardhanarishvara (The Androgynous God) he won Padma Bhushan as well as the Sahitya Akademi Award.
