Udham Singh is one of the finest hockey players of India. He was born on August 4, 1928 in Punjab, India. He was chosen by Punjab Police team with a number of Olympians already there. Udham Singh was the foundation of the dreadful Indian team, which bagged consecutive gold medals in 1952 and 1956. He bid farewell to the Olympian appearances in the Tokyo Games of 1964, where India make up for the earlier Olympic loss to Pakistan. He coached the Indian team, which won silver in London Olympics in 1967 and Bangkok Asian Games in 1970. He was conferred with the Arjuna Award. |
