Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his wife, stands imperially on the bank of River Yamuna in Agra. It was built in between 1631 to 1648 and is one of the most admired masterpieces of the world's heritage and is a jewel of the Mughal architecture.
The white marble tomb is the main focus of the Taj Mahal. The tomb stands on a square plinth consisting of a symmetrical building with an arch-shaped doorway, topped by a large dome. The tomb is a part of the vast complex that comprises of a main gateway, an elaborate garden, a guest house (to the right), a mosque (to the left), and several other palatial buildings.
