Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863. His pre-monastic name was Narendranath Dutta. He was the most influential social reformer of the 19th century. He was an Indian Hindu sage and an exemplar of Vedanta and Yoga. He was a well-known follower of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and the founder of the Ramakrishna Mission.

Vivekananda is considered as a major figure in the history of the Hindu reform movements. He was the first Hindu sage to travel to the West, where he introduced Eastern philosophy at the World's Parliament of Religions in 1893. He passed away on July 4, 1902 after a session of prayer at Belur Math.
