Srinivasa Ramanujan
Srinivasa Ramanujan was an Indian mathematician, born on 22 December 1887. Although he had no formal training in pure mathematics, he made an extensive contribution in the area of number theory, mathematical analysis, continued fraction and infinite series.  He encountered with formal mathematic when he was 10 years old. He won various awards and accolades at school for his unusual mathematics skill.
Ramanujan independently discovered results of Gauss, Kummer and others on hyper-geometric series. His works on partial sums and products of hyper-geometric series have led to major development in the topic. His most famous work was on the number p(n) of partitions of an integer into summands. He died on April 6, 1920.
