Shiv Kumar Sharma
Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, santoor maestro was born on January 13th 1938 in Jammu. Besides being a master in santoor, he alsos received trining for tabla as well as a vocalist. The credit of making the local KashmirI instrument, Santoor world renowned goes solely to Pandit Sharma.
He has several awards and felicitation to his credit inclusive of Padma Shri, Padma Vibhushan, Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan’s Award, Sangeet Kala Academi’s Award, Nazr-e-Khusro Award, Honoray Doctorate from the University of Jammu and many more. Apart from classical compositions, Shiv Kumar Sharma has also given musical score for Bollywood movies inclusive of Jhank Jhank Payal Baje, Silsila, Chandni, Darr.
