Shankar Jaikishan
Shankar Jaikishan was a duo of prolific music composers in the Indian film industry who composed music for over 150 Bollywood movies. The team consisted of Shankarsingh Raghuwanshi and Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal. Shankar (October 15, 1922 - April 26, 1987) hailed from Punjab and was trained under the famous Husnlala Bhagatram. Jaikishan (1929 - September 12, 1971) hails from Vansada, Gujarat, India. They won several Filmfare awards for their outstanding music.
Chori Chori was the film for which Shankar Jaikishan won their first Filmfare award for best music. The era of popular and melodious music started with Shankar-Jaikishan and they were the first successful duo in the Bollywood. They were followed by Kalyanji-Anandji and Laxmikant-Pyarelal.
