Sarus Crane

The Sarus Crane is an all-year resident breeding bird in northern Pakistan and India, in especially Central India and the Gangetic plains, Nepal, Southeast Asia and Queensland, Australia. It is a very large crane, averaging 156 cm in length, which is found in freshwater marshes and plains. It has a wing span of 8 ft.
Adults are grey with a bare red head and white crown and a long dark pointed bill. The body plumage is light gray. The crown is covered with smooth greenish skin. The rest of the head, throat and upper neck are covered with rough orange or red skin. The Sarus Cranes are the world's tallest living flying bird.

They are omnivorous in nature. They eat insects, aquatic plants and animals, crustaceans, seeds and berries, small vertebrates, and invertebrates.
