Sambhar Chawal

Sambhar Chawal is a South Indian meal that consists of rice and sambhar, a sort of Indian lentil soup. It is specially prepared in Southern states like Bangalore and Kerala. The process to cook sambhar chawal is very easy. First you have to boil the dal along with sliced vegetables, onions, chillies and salt. Meanwhile, roast the ingredients of the masala in 2tsp of oil and grind it to a fine paste. Add turmeric and the grinded masala to the dal with vegetables and boil for sometime.
Add fried and powdered fenugreek and asafoetida. Finally, season with mustard, chillies and curry leaves in oil. For added taste, little tamarind water is poured into the sambhar. The sambhar is then ready to be served with rice.
