Run Chase Victory in 1976 |
|
India marked a major success by making a mammoth fourth innings target of 403 against West Indies in 1976. The Indians sailed home victorious with centuries beginning GR Vishwanath and Sunil Gavaskar. This fateful Test took place after playing exceedingly well in the match of the four-Test series at Barbados. West Indies took batting first and made 359 runs. India managed just 228 in front of the hostile spell of fast bowling by Michael Holding. The mighty target of 403 was waiting for India. This time, India relied on Gundappa Vishwanath with a century along with the Mahinder Amarnath. This win still is one of the greatest come from behind wins in the history of Test cricket. |
