In the rural regions of India as well towns and cities, there are many people who have fallen prey to habits like alcohol and drugs to such an extent that their normal course of living is disrupted. Rehabilitation centres for these patients and also those who are physically or mentally handicapped have been made all over the country in different regions.
Under the aegis of the Indian government, there are around 361 voluntary organisations which have a total of 376 de-addiction-cum-rehabilitation centres and also 68 counselling and awareness centres. A provision of over 100 de-addiction centres is also made for those who require long term treatment. NGOs too have come forward to help the people who are under suffering. |
