Red Fort Complex

The Red Fort, also known as Lal Qil'ah or Delhi fort is located in Delhi and is a World Heritage Site. It was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639 A.D. It was the palace for his new capital Shahjahanabad. Within the complex of the fort there are four pavilions: the Mumtaz Mahal and the Rang Mahal, Khas Mahal and Diwan-i-Khas. There are two gates at the front of the complex: the Delhi Gate and the Lahore Gate.
The fort lies alongside the river Yamuna. The architectural style of the fort represents the fusion of Hindu, Persian and Islamic architecture. The complex of the fort is recognised as the best examples of Mughal architectures.
