Ravi River

Ravi is a river which flows through India and Pakistan. This trans-national river is one of the five sister rivers in Punjab which give the state its name. Having its source of origin in Himalayas this river starts its journey from Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh. River Ravi is having a total length of 720 KM. After Himachal Pradesh this river moves down to Dalhousie and then enters the state of Punjab.
Ravi is having the historical importance since on its western bank in Pakistan the tombs of Jahangir and Noor Jahan are built in the Shahadra Bagh. Lahore city is on its eastern bank.

Ravi has derived her name from Sun (means Ravi in Hindi). The name Ravi is given since its water is pure and clean and shines like sunlight.
