Rann of Kutch |
The Rann of Kutch is located in the Indian state of Gujarat that borders the Sindh region of Pakistan. It is a marshy region and is spread across an area of 27,900 kmē. The region was originally a part of the Arabian Sea.
The damming up of the region and turning it into a large salt water lagoon were the results of geological forces like earthquakes. The region turned into a seasonal salt marsh as it was gradually filled with silt. The area transforms into a shallow marsh during the monsoon and often floods to knee-depth height. During dry season the region becomes parched.
