Ranakpur Jain temples were built during the reign of Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. It is located in the mountain rages of the Pali district, in Rajasthan. Chaumukha Temple or Four-Faced Temple is the main temple. It was built in 1439 and is dedicated to Adinath, the first Jain Teacher. Besides, there are four subsidiary shrines, 24 pillared-halls and 8 domes supported by more than 400 columns. The most fascinating feature of this temple is its 1,444 intricately carved columns. |
