Prakash Padukone

Prakash Padukone is one of the most famous and legendary badminton players in India. He was born on June 10, 1955. Prakash won the Indian national title consecutively for the eight years, until 1979. He achieved his first international success in 1979, when he won the gold at the Commonwealth Games. Later he won the Danish Open, Swedish Open and the prestigious All England Badminton Championship in 1979. He was awarded the Arjuna award in 1972 and the Padma Shri in 1982.

After retirement, Prakash was the chairman of the Badminton Association of India. Later, he started coaching the Indian national badminton team in 1993 and 1996. At present, he runs the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy.
