Pattabhi Sitaramayya

Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya, an Indian independence activist and political leader was born on November 24th 1880 in Gundugolanu village, Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. He graduated from the Madras Christian College to gain M.B.C.M. degree. He began his practice as a doctor in Machilipatnam but renounced to join the Indian freedom struggle.
On November 28th 1923, he founded Andhra Bank in Machilipatnam that has become one of the major private banks of India. Sitaramayya was selected as the member of Rajya Sabha in the year1952. He even served as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh spanning from 1952 up to 1957.

His stand to justify the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s oerders to bring Kashi Vishwanath Temple to ruins in his book Feathers and the Stones, made him unpopular amongst the Brahminists.
