|P. K. Banerjee, known as Pradip Kumar Banerjee was one of the stalwarts of the terrifying Indian football team. This renowned player made its mark on the international stage. An ultimate forward, it was his habit to score pertinent goals. His career was started in Jamshedpur, but he excelled while representing the Eastern Railways Sports Club, Kolkata. He was a part of the Indian team, which finished fourth in the Melbourne Olympics in 1956 and captained the national team at Olympics in Rome in 1960. P. K. Banerjee shined in the Asian Arena, as well where he represented India in three Asiads. In 1962, India got the gold medal, where Banerjee scored in opposition to all the teams except South Korea.
