Thevar Magan (1992) is a Tamil feature film directed by veteran director Bharathan. The film stars Kamal Haasan, Sivaji Ganesan, Nasser, Revathi and Gouthami in acclaimed roles. The film's score and soundtrack are composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The movie was later remade into Hindi as Virasat by Priyadarshan.
The story of the movie is like this that, the American-educated Shakti (Kamal Haasan), son of a village chief Periathevar (Shivaji) returns home after a long stay abroad. Accompanying Shakti is his girlfriend (Gautami), with who he intends to settle in a city and start a business. However, his father hopes he will don the patriarchal responsibility, a role Shakti finds alien and distasteful after several years abroad. Then, an accidental blaze and its consequences turn a new set of responsibilities on Shakti. The film offers some of the great performances from the lead actors. |
