Omkareshwar Temple |

The Omkareshwar Temple is situated on the banks of the river Narmada, 12 miles from Mortakka in Madhya Pradesh. This temple dates back to the 17th century and is famous for its extravagant style. It is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. King Mandhatha of the Ishvaku clan is believed to have worshiped Shiva here. The Omkareshwar temple is built with high spires in the North Indian style of architecture. |

The dome of the Omkareshwar temple is made of soft soap stone and is surrounded by verandas with columns. The columns are carved in circles, polygons and squares. The tower of the Omkareshwar temple is built in Nagara style and has 5 distinct layers, each layers represents the image of a different Hindu God. |
