Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks
The Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Park are located in the Chamoli district in the upper Himalayan ranges of Uttaranchal. Together they form a transitions zone between the Great Himalayas and the mountain ranges of the Zanskar.
The park is situated near Nanda Devi, the second highest mountain peak of India. It was declared as World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The Valley of Flowers is renowned for its widespread alpine flowers. It is also a home to the rare and endangered animals like the Asiatic black bear, brown beer, blue sheep and snow leopards. Over 600 floral species are found in the valley of which some are considered rare.
