N. K. P. Salve Challenger Trophy

N. K. P. Salve Challenger Trophy was introduced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It was named after former BCCI president NKP Salve, who bagged the world cup to the sub-continent in 1987. It is an annual day-night one day tournament with a close consideration to India’s one day international obligations. Here, the emerging talent of the country is showcased and younger players are exposed to new opportunities. It takes off in October before Ranji Trophy season begins. It gained immense popularity after featuring the come back of master blaster Sachin Tendulkar from injury in the 2005-06.
