Motilal Nehru

Motilal Nehru, an early Indian independence activist and leader of the Indian National Congress (INC) was born on May 6th 1861 in Agra. He was the father of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and was amongst the first generation of young Indians to be given a ‘Western-style’ college education. He studied in Muir College at Agra, and then joined as a lawyer in the English courts.
In the year1909, he achieved the high point of his legal career by getting approved to act in the Privy Council of Great Britain. However, his regular visits to Europe, infuriated the Kashmiri Brahmin community.

He was elected as the President of the Congress Party twice. Nehru was also associated with the Swaraj Party that wanted to come in the British-sponsored councils. He was also instrumental in the formulation of the famous Nehru Report.
