|Morarji Ranchhodji Desai was born on February 29, 1896 and was Prime Minister of India and an Indian independence activist. He is the only Indian who was conferred with the highest civilian awards from India, as well from Pakistan. These were the Bharat Ratna and Nishaan-e-Paakistan. He did his graduation from Wilson College, Mumbai and later joined the civil services in Gujarat. He spent very many years in imprisonment at the time of freedom struggle. He was a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress in Gujarat and was especially known for his tough spirit and leadership skills. In 1934 and 1937, he was elected as the Revenue and Home Minister of then Bombay Presidency.
