Michael Ferreira

Michael Ferreira, born on 1st October 1938, was four times World Billiards champion. He proved to be a capable successor to the remarkable Wilson Jones. In 1960, he made his debut and in 1964, he appeared in the World Amateur Championship for the first time. In 1977, he won his maiden World Amateur Billiards Championship followed by the triumph with the World Open Billiards Championship title at Christchurch, New Zealand.
In December 1978, he became the first amateur to cross the 1000 point barrier by making a new world record break of 1149 in the national championships. His achievements gave a fillip to the three-ball game in India and inspired the youngsters to shine in the international arena.
