Mansa Devi Temple
Mata Mansa Devi temple is located in the foothills of Shivalik range in the Panchkula district. The present main temple of Sri Mansa Devi was constructed by Maharaja Gopal Singh of Manimajra around the period 1811-1815. The temple is dedicated to the worship of goddess Shakti and is an evidence of the age old survival of Shaktism in India.
There are two temples in the complex of Mata Mansa Devi temple. Originally the deity, Mansa along with Devi Saraswati and Lakshmi were worshipped in the form of stone pebbles called as Pindi. But now for giving the goddess an attractive look, form has been given to a marble and the marble bust is also worshipped in modern times. Also, the architecture of the temple is a typical mogul style rather than the “Nagara” style which was prevalent in the Shivaliks.
