|Manik Bandopadhyay is an influential bangle writer. He was born on May 19 1908 in a small town of Bihar in India. Some of his most prominent works are Padma Nadir majhi, Putul Nacher Kotha and a number of short stories. His work stands in contrast with achievers like Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, who depicted life of Bengal in a mild, lyrical light. Manik’s writings basioically dealt with the irrelevance and wretched of existence in that context. He dealt with the dark alleyways of the human mind standing sharply against serene beauty of the nature, which was a background of many novelist. His take was perhaps savagely on issues like hypocrisy.
