Rai Bhaadur Mohan Singh Oberoim, known as MS Oberoi was the greatest hotelier of India. He was born on August 15, 1900 in a village called Bhaun Jhelum, which is now in Pakistan. He was regarded a visionary, who put forward a modern structural model for South Asia's tourism and hospitability services industry. His father died, when he was six months old, survived by his mother with a few resources. He got his college degree in Lahore and worked as low paid billing clerk at Shimla's Hotel. After ten years, he gathered entire family resources and purchased the hotel. Later on he built many hotels and expanded his base holdings. Later on he was selected a president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India and was bestowed with very many honours. |
