Lord Mahavir |
|
The Indian sage Vardhamana was commonly known as Mahavir (599 – 527 BCE). He established what at present is considered as the central tenets of Jainism. He was the 24th and the last Trithankara according to the Jain tradition. He was born in 599 BCE in Jamui District (present day South Bihar). His mother had 14 auspicious dreams before he was born. The dreams were signs foretelling the advent of a great soul. |
