Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan

Jayaprakash Narayan, widely known as JP was an Indian political leader and a freedom fighter. He was born on October 11, 1902. To motivate meritorious youths, he joined the "Bihar Vidyapeeth". He was among the first student of eminent Gandhian Dr.Anugrah Narayan Sinha. In 1922, he went to the United States to support his studies in political science, sociology and economics.
Narayan returned to India in 1929 and joined the Indian National Congress. He won particular fame during the Quit India movement. After independence he led the ‘CSP’ out of Congress and became the opposition ‘Socialist Party’. He died on October 8, 1979. In 1998, he was posthumously awarded the ‘Bharat Ratna’.
