Lepakshi Temple lies nine miles east of Hindupur in Andhra Pradesh. The temple dates back to the 16th century and is famous for its fine architectural beauty. This temple is renowned for the mural painting of the Vijayanagar kings. There are three shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Virabhadra inside the huge complex. |

Impressive sculptures representing dancers, drummers and musicians can be found in the interior of the temples. Another highlight of this temple is the 6 ft. height and 8 m length monolithic "Nandi" (the bull) sculpture. During the month of February, a 10 day long celebration is conducted in the temple. Pilgrims from all over the country flocks here during this festival. |
