Leaf Muntjac



The leaf muntjac, also known as the leaf deer is a small species of muntjac. It is the smallest known species of deer. It is found at an altitude of 450 to 600 m. The leaf muntjac is uniquely found in dense forests of Myanmar. It was discovered that they exist in Namdapha Tiger Reserve in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, India.
An adult leaf deer is 20 inches tall and weighs less than 25 pounds. It is the world's smallest known deer. They are light brown in color. Males have antlers that are about 1m in height. Other than this, the male and female deer are identical. Both the males and females have canine tusks.

The leaf muntjac mostly eats fruit. They are both diurnal and nocturnal in nature.
