Karwa Chauth
Karwa Chauth is a traditional Hindu festival for married women. Married women fast for one whole day, without food as well as water and pray for the long life of their husbands. The ritual signifies extreme love and devotion of a wife towards her husband. It is popular amongst married women in the northern and western parts of India, especially, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.
This festival is celebrated on the fourth day of the new moon, in the month of October or November. On the day of Karwa Chauth married women wake up before dawn. They take bath and invoke blessings of Goddess Parvati for their husband's long life. In the evening, a large number of beautifully dressed women gather in a temple or in somebody's house for Puja, and offer their prayers to Goddess Parvati for the well being of their husbands.

And then they eagerly wait for the moon rise and then after seeing the moon they open up their fast with water and dinner.
