| Kamala Suraiya, popularly known as Kamala Das is a prominent indian writer in English and Malaylam. She was born on March 31, 1934 in Kerala, India. She is one of the most outstanding Indian poets. In Kerala, she is widely known for her autobiography and short stories. She writes under the pen name Madhavikkutty. Her father VM Nair is a former managing editor of Mathrabhumi, the widely circulated Malayalam daily and her mother is a well-known Malayali poetess. Kamala Das is by far the first Hindu woman to candidly talk about sexual desires of Indian woman. Due to this, she has become an iconoclaust of her generation. |
