Jwalamukhi Temple

The Jwalamukhi Temple is a popular Hindu pilgrimage. It is located 35 km away from Kangra valley in Himachal Pradesh. Every year colourful fairs are held during the celebrations of Navratra. Inside the temple there is a copper pipe through which natural gas comes out, which is lighted by the priest of the temple. The flame is worshiped as a manifestation of the goddess Jwalamukhi.
It is believed that the temple belongs to the golden period. The great Mughal Emperor, Akbar also visited this temple. The water course within the premises of the temple is said to have been constructed by Akbar. The temple has a gilt dome and silver plated folding doors.
