Jahnu Barua
Jahnu Barua is a notable Indian film director. He was born on 1952. He has directed a number of Assamese and Hindi films and is best known for his Hindi film ‘Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara’. He is considered as one of the most brilliant contemporary Indian film maker and is closely related with Assamese Seventh Art.
The first directorial debut of Barua was the film Aparoopa (1982). However, the films that established him on to the map of the art film, is Halodiya Choraye Baodhan Khai and Hkhagoroloi Bohu Dor. He has received several national as well as international awards and acclaims for these two films. He is also a nationalist member of Congress party.
