Henna



A small shrub which has colouring property in its leaves, Lawsonia inermis is commonly called as Henna. Henna is used for colouring and conditioning the hair and nowadays also for body art. Henna powder which is made by grinding the henna plant leaves and then sifted is mixed with water or lemon juice. This when done, gives out a dye which helps in colouration of the hair or skin.
The colour that is given by natural henna may range from orange to red, to black cherry and near black colour. However, pure black colour is not produced by natural henna powder. To get a good henna powder, there are various varieties which are found in different parts of the country that are mixed and grounded to get a rich colour.
