Guruvayoor Temple
The Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple is among the sacred temples located in Thrissur district in Kerala. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is worshiped as Lord Krishna. The idol of the God inside the temple is made of a rare stone known as Patala Anjanam.
This famous pilgrimage follow a strict decorum and only Hindus are allowed inside. Several paintings, depicting the life of Lord Krishna can be found in the walls of the main temple. Most of these paintings date back to the 17th century. The roof inside the temple is decorated with gold. Apart from the idol of Lord Vishnu, the temple also has the idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa and Goddess Durga.
