|Govind Ballabh Pant was born on August 30, 1887 in Almora, India. His grandfather Bandri Dutt Joshi played a crucial role in shaping his views, as he was brought up by him. Govind immensely respected his grandfather’s view in honesty and inculcated it in his own life. Govind was statesman of India and one of the leading political leaders from Uttarakhand. He was the one, who established Hindi as national language. He made his debutant in politics in 1921 and got elected to the Legislative Assembly of the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh. Many a times, Pant got arrested in the freedom struggle. In 1947, he became the Chief Minister of the United Provinces. He was conferred with the Bharat Ratna for his immense contribution.
