Girish Chandra Ghosh was a Bengali poet, musician, poet, playwright, actor and novelist. He is usually associated with the golden age of Bengali theatre. Even though an infamous libertine, Girish became one of the disciples of Sri Ramakrishna. The tale oh his relationship with Sri Ramakrishna that led to his transformation was second to none and is mentioned in the “Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna”. Earlier, he was a selfish libertine, who indulged completely in the reckless, worldly, life that stood in complete contrast to that of a saint. He ran his theatre company in Calcutta. His dormant spirit was awakened by Sri Ramakrishna and he became most devoted disciples. |
