Ghoomar Dance
Ghoomar is a traditional women's folk dance of Rajasthan, India, which was developed by the Bhil tribe and was adopted by the Rajputs. It is performed by groups of women in swirling robes, and accompanied by men and women singing together. This is a very simple dance where the ladies, dressed in voluminous ghagras, move smoothly and gracefully in circles.
Gair Ghoomar is also a type of Ghoomer dance. It is traditionally performed only by men; the only exception is Holi when both women and men dance it together. In fact, it is one of the few dances of Rajasthan in which both the sexes dance at the same time. It involves two circles in which the women form the inner circle and the men, the outer. The gair ghoomar is called dandiya gair in Jodhpur and greendad in the Shekhawati region.
