Gaurav Ghei is an Indian golfer who plays on the Asian Tour. Born on September 25, 1968, Ghei made his international headlines by defeating Ryder Cup veteran Colin Montgomerie in the Alfred Dunhill Cup. He was the first Indian to qualify for The Open Championship. He catapulted his national fame in 1995 by his win at the Gadgil Western Masters. |

Ghei was the first Indian to qualify for the prestigious British Open in June 1997. He went through the tough Sectional Qualifying event and played at the Royal Troon. Apart from the 1995 Gadgil Western Masters victory, his other wins include the 2006 Taiwan Masters, and the 2007 Beijing Open. |
