Ganges River Dolphin

The Ganges River Dolphin is sub-specie of river dolphins found in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Pakistan. The Ganges River Dolphin is primarily found in the Ganges and Brahmaputra Rivers and their tributaries in India, Bangladesh and Nepal.
The Ganges river dolphins have the long, pointed snout, which is a characteristic feature of all river dolphins. Mature adult females are larger than males. The Ganges river dolphin feeds on a variety of shrimp and fish, including carp and catfish. It does much of its feeding at or near the bottom. The waters that it inhabits are extremely murky. Being a mammal, the Ganges River dolphin cannot breathe in the water and must surface every 30-120 seconds. The color of the dolphin is grayish brown. The calves and young ones are dark in color but as the animal grows in size, the color lightens.
