| E.Sreedharan, Elattuvalapil Sreedharan is referred to as the Metro Man of India. He was born on 12 July 1932 in Kerala. He graduated in engineering and started off his career as a lecturer in Civil engineering. Then, he shifted to the Bombay Port Trust as a learner just before joining hands with the Indian Railways. He has surpassed various challenges and contributed a lot for public service. He was retired in 1990 from Indian Railways, but was called out and appointed as the CMD of the Konkan Railway. Under his guidance in 7 years, the immensely challenging project met completion. He is the mastermind behind some of the rare project like Delhi Metro and is with a number of prestigious awards including Padma Shri in 2001. |
