|Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar was born on October 19, 1910 in Punjab. He was an Indian born American astrophysicist and Nobel laureate in Physics. In 1953, he became a neutralised citizen of the United States. He was recruited to the University of Chicago Faculty as Assistant Professor in January 1937. He worked at the Ballistic Research Laboratories at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland, during World War II.
