Dr. Karni Singh



Dr. Karni Singh was born on 21st April, 1924, at Bikaner in Rajasthan. He was the leading light of Indian shooting sport. He won the National Championship in Clay Pigeon Trap and Skeet for a whooping 17 years, from 1960 to 1977. He participated in five Olympic Games: Rome, Tokyo, Mexico, Munich and Moscow and spearheaded the Indian challenge in various international competitions.
In 1962, at the 38th World Shooting Championship held at Cairo, he won the Silver medal. In 1961, he was conferred with the Arjuna award. In the honour of this legendary shooter, the only international standard shooting range in India has been named as Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.
