Dr. H. Khorana
Hargobind Khorana is an Indian-American molecular biologist. He was born on January 9, 1922 in Raipur (presently in Pakistan). For his work on the interpretation of the genetic code and function in protein synthesis, he was awarded with the Nobel Prize in 1968. In 1966, he became a naturalised citizen of the United States.
Presently, Khorana lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States and is serving as MIT's Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Biology and Chemistry, Emeritus. He is also the member of the Board of Scientific Governors at The Scripps Research Institute. Apart from Noble prize he has also been awarded with Lasker Award (1967), Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize (1968) and National Medal of Science (1987).
