Dibyendu Barua

Dibyendu Barua is the second Indian Grandmaster after Viswanathan Anand. He was born on October 27, 1966. At an age of 12, he became the youngest participant in the National championship. In 1972, he beat the then world number two GM Viktor Korchnoi in London and the very next year, he won his maiden national championship.
The other notable achievements of Dibyendu include his performance against Korchnoi in 1982, H Spangenberg in 1996 and M Basman in 1991. It took nine long years for him to earn the Grandmaster title in 1991. He is still attached to this game and is now endeavouring to impart his knowledge of chess to the young players.
