Cricket World Cup 2007

ICC Cricket World Cup is an exciting event for any cricket lover, which takes places once in every four years. Cricket World Cup is the premier competition of One Day International Cricket and is organized by International Cricket Council. The Cricket World Cup 2007 took place in West Indies. Initially, it was organized in 1975 in England.



The Logo of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 was developed by the Mynale Bryce Design Strategy, a prominent design agency along with Caribbean consortium of Hawzat agencies. It primarily showed the facets of Caribbean life, connecting with the international audience and summarizing the spirit of cricket. The logo completely gels with the concept with vibrant red at the centre depicting the excitement associated with dance and celebration, passion for the game all across the world. The stumps, bat and ball are throwing light on the spirit of the game, as well as life in the Caribbean. The palm tree, vibrant green and the azure blue stands for the surrounding seas and sky as perfect backdrop for the World Cup.

Official Song

The title of the official song of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 is “THE GAME OF LOVE AND UNITY”. It has been sung by Jamaican born Shaggy, Trinidadian Faye-Ann Lyons and Barbadian entertainer. The official song of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 brings out the unity of the entire world towards a game of spirit. It is an exciting game which unites the whole world in the exhilarating spirit, irrespective of race, class and gender. A game, where rules never change marks celebration of the love of this game, which captivates not only heart, soul but also the rhythm of the nation. This game of peace and love will never end and is meant for eternity. Mello has been an epithet for every viewer who loves the game.  

World Cup 2007 Mascot

ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Mascot was an orange mongoose known as Mello. It was neither an object, animal nor person, but a young, fresh, friendly, contemporary character with bright eyes and a cheerful smile on its face. It stands for the zest for life and is in his teens. He is socially aware and yet cheeky and curious. This impressive personality is completely aware of the growing HIV epidemic across the world and thus was shown wearing a red ribbon to express his support for the ICC/UNAIDS initiative.


The ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 was sponsored by chief global corporate. The official global partners of the world cup were LG electronics, Hutch, Pepsi and Hero Honda. The official sponsors were Indian Oil Corporation, Cable and Wireless, Visa Cards, Scotia Bank, Johnnie Walker and Red Stripe. Some of the official suppliers were GL Events and BMW.

Rules & Regulations Schedule

Some of the rules and regulations, as per the schedule of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 were that all the matches, One Day Internationals had to function according to the norms of ODI rules. All matches had to be of 50 overs, unless declared otherwise by the match referee or the umpires. In case of bad weather, every team must have batted and bowled for at least 20 overs to get a result. A bowler could bowl 10 overs per match at maximum. The timing of the matches was 9:30 to 17:15, as per West Indies times. The first innings ran from 9:30-13:00 and the second innings from 13:45 to 17:15.
