The MA Chidambaram Stadiun is known as Chepauk Stadium located in Chennai. It is named after the former President of BCCI and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association. It hosted its first match on February 10, 1934. Here, Indian cricket team won its first ever Test against England in 1952. The pitch is bouncy and offers something to ball, as well as bat. It had witnessed history in the match between India and Australia in 1986, where Kapil Dev recorded an excellent century. It also been a witness to the standing ovation, given by 50, 000 spectators to the Pakistan cricket team in January 1999 in a close Test match. |
